Downloading the debian potato installer kernel from
nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net seems to have worked great for my performa

After a normal boot, my iBook (2001) will sleep happily when closed and
the track pad will tap-click.
After issuing `trackpad notap` closing the ibook no longer sleeps it but
at least the trackpad doesn't tap-click any more.
