Is there a precompiled kernel that I can use for this purpose (making
sound work on my G4, on which I've just installed woody new-powermac)?
I'm not particularly up for learning how to build a custom one just yet.
Also, can someone point me to instructions on replacing the one I've got

Same exact problem here, except I'm using a default install of woody,

ntp suggests ntpdate for a reason; you should probably use
I use a macally ikey keyboard, and I've noticed two problems.

num-lock, they all turn on. Disabling num-lock doesn't turn any of them
off, but when caps-lock is enabled, the num-lock LED turns off. When I

Hi there,
I have followed the install procedure for the prep method v1.1 15 oct 1999
when installing debian linux.
I have tried the release from 23 jan
I'm using a 2.4.16-newpmac kernel on a Titanium (this was the latest
proposed kernel when the Debian distribution was installed on my
machine). I wanted to compile Mozilla (I tried twice), but twice,
the machine completely froze during the compilation. I suppose that
there is a bug in the kernel.

Hi Derrik
I've searched for the 8100/80 spec on the net and every source
indicates that the 8100/80 shipped with a SWIM III floppy - no
mention of SWIM II. Is there another possible explanation?
Thanks
Clive

FWIW, I'm having the same problem without NTP.

What's the difference between kernel-image-2.4.18-newpmac and
kernel-image-2.4.18-powerpc? Which one should I take preferably?
(I have a PowerBook G4.)

Okay. I have asked around and it appears that hwclock is mangled
on the ppc and will screw up on daylight savings time (giving times
that are one hour too low). Apparently this has been discussed before
and the problem is tickled by the use of localtime (with utc for the
clock being suggested
