boot problems after install on Pismo

I've gone through the install procedure of potato on a pismo (a new world powerbook). However the next to last step "make linux directly bootable from hard disk" runs quik rather than yaboot/ybin. I've tried going to console 2 at the end of the install process and running ybin, but it can't write

Hello, I did not manage to hve SMP working in a dual G4 7450. The stock kernel (2.4.16-powerc-smp) and a build kernel (from kernel-source-2.4.17 with benh patch) hang on boot at "smp_core99_kick_cpu done" Does somebody knows if it can work ? Thanks in advance
