login to

most common problem is broken DNS which gets caught by the
ALL: PARANOID in /etc/h
So I need to configure a DNS server to have OK RARPA? to have sshd work?
usually when Im too lazy to install DNS server, there is only a delay in login
process... 5-20 secs before asking for username...

I have the 2.2.19 kernel from Potato on a g4 tower. When I try to start
esd I get:
/dev/dsp: No such device
I have done a MADEDEV audio and have:
crw-rw 1 root audio 14, 3 [date/time] dsp
I have installed soundcore and dmasound, and added myself to the audio group.
Thanks for any help

This error means 'there is no driver' so either you haven't loaded the
dmasound module or 2.2.19 is too old for your soundchip.

No, you don't need to be running a DNS
When I try to connect from a MacSSH to my debian 2.2r3PPC and nothing happens...
When I try to connect from a MacSSH to my debian 2.2r3x86 I get in on the x86

both packages was installed the same way, with no post configuration of sshd.
I do login with my own account, not root, i. e.

Hi All,
I tried to use the subject with SuSE 7.1 PPC: no go.
All e-mails to support remain unanswered.
Does any Linux install out of the box or otherwise on this old clunker?
Wanted to make an intranet server for backup?
I came across several notions in YellowDog archives, but couldn't figure it
You should recompile with CONFIG_MAC_ADBKEYCODES=n
If you run 2.2.19-pmac kernel, just append="keyboard_sends_linux_keycodes=1"
to /etc/yaboot.conf
Cheers,
Laurent
