Shouldn't you specify the FS type as 'smbfs', not 'smb'? Admittedly Ben's
2.4.5-pre3 is a bit old, but I've used more recent BenH's to mount SMB
shares without a problem.

Hi All,
I'm trying to mount windows 2000 shares onto my linux box and I'm
getting hung up. I've recompiled my kernel (from benh's tree, version
2.4.5-pre3) with support for smb filesystems. The problem is, even with
the new kernel, when I try to mount a share:
wolf:/# mount -t smb //HWServer/Doc
