Apparently FAAC doesn't have very high quality output. I've had limited success producing AAC files with the PsyTel command-line encoder running under Wine on my x86 box. I think it would be much more interesting to replace the firmware on the iPod with uCLinux and port an optimised version of the

hi! many mac people will use aac in the future, since it is included in apples new iTunes4. so many will use iTunes4 to encode aac files. I dont know it there is a linux encoder but take a look at http://www.ics.uci.edu/~jyeung/geek/aac/ for a player i also dont know if there are anny plugins for x
