Hummm, easy way IMHO is ctrl+shift+f2 and in the new console login as
root and type eject...

I changed the "kb:" entry in /etc/inittab to execute eject.
ALT-UpArrow will now eject the CD.

After unmounting try:
eject /cdrom

and have downlöoaded 7 iso files. After i finished burning an start
installing the installation prog
want me to insert cd 2, but how ??
I cant get cd 1 out of the rom

I'm in a bit of tricky situation here with my TiBook III. I need to
eject the Debian CD that's in the slot loading drive. However, the
significant complicating factor is that my ethernet port seems to have
died, leaving me with a very minimal system and no way to get useful

eject: unable to open '/dev/cdrom'
you could try
eject /cdrom -v
the -v switch will describe in detail all the steps performed to eject
the device.
if it doesn't work, you have to add to /etc/fstab the correct device for
your cd drive, mine is
/dev/hdb /cdrom i
