Hello,
I have a Blue & White Newworld G3. I use it as a firewall and it works
very well. Currently it is running the 2.4.27-powerpc kernel. I am
trying (and failing) to upgrade to 2.6.x (primarily 2.6.16-1-powerpc).
Whenever I boot with a >= 2.6.8 kernel udev will hang at "Waiting for

Hi,
Yesterday I got a TiBook with an 800 MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a
40GB HDD, Radeon Mobility 7500 [32MB] video card, and an airport card
with it. My boss gave me his machine since he's just gotten one of
the new ones. I mention the source because that same morning I'd seen
everything func

Hi,
I've installed debian on this box and am having problems with X 4.2.1.1.
X starts up, a cursor works, but the screen is messed up and when I try
ctrl alt backspace to exit X just locks, I can't get to any other ttys either.
Here is my log:

Hi,
I just installed debian on PowerMac 8100/100 (NuBus), using MkLinux,
kernel from nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net and potato cd#1, then
upgraded to woody.
Now I have two major problems:
1. under X, colors are totally screwed, no matter how I set the display.
I tried 8/15/16/24 depths, and noth

Hello,
Thank you all for your help. Following michel's suggestion, I compiled
benh's kernel and changed my append to "video=aty128fb:vmode:14,cmode:8".
It work without problem after that. I tried taking out the append line,
but it would just hang with the OF path to the video card on a white

Hello,
I have been faced with the same error messages starting X regardless of
the changes suggested by this list. I am running 2.4.3-pre6 kernel from
the linuxppc.org ftp site on debian unstable. I have had the problem with
X 4.0.2 and I just upgraded to 4.0.3 from branden's site and I still get

I installed a potato-system with kernel 2.2.17 und a Mac 8500 (with a
Accelerated G3 Card and 80MB memory). I boot it with bootx (1.2.2) and
most thing work fine (after some configuration problems).
But one `big' problem remains:
After 10 minutes idle time the X-server (3.3.6) ends with the fatal

Hi!
I have been trying a lot to get the mouse working under X, but with no luck.
GPM is configured to use the mouse, so I know which device it would be
configured as.
I have also been experiencing problems with X(Xfree86 3.3.6). After
installing a program called: *app.login*(nextstep look) it did

Hi all,
many many thanks for your suggestions.
Finally it was the right thing to get a precompiled
kernel and boot this one with BootX. The system came
up again without problems.
I couldn't hesitate to try this kernel compiling again.
This time I made the "make modules" and "make modules_install
