Hi Alex,
iMac G3's monitor is very sensitive to the sync frequency: you must
create an xorg.conf with correct values for HorizSync and VertRefresh.
I can come later with the details, but they can be found in some old

I'm trying to do it with pm-suspend; but the command doesn't do anything
and return no errors (even in /var/log/{messages|syslog}). After some
research I found that I may not have suspend-to-ram:

I tried using the -r switch as stated in the s2ram man page but no
luck. The driver I am using is r128

suspending to RAM. The hard drive spins down but the display remains active and

Hi all!
is any of you ever been able to install a 512MB SODIMM RAM on a first
generation iBook?
I tested a couple of such stuff with no success and could only install
256Mb. However, some sellers still claim their 512Mb sodimms would fit!
Thanks for your attention.

You can find out what's set in the kernel. Something like:

CONFIG_HIG

Hi,
I have some problems with pbbuttonsd and suspend to ram while i'm on the
battery. pbbuttonsd doesn't seem to intercept any keyboard/mouse activity. This
cause my ibook g4 to go in suspend mode. It appears just after an upgrade but i
don't remember if it was a kernel or a pbb
Hey folks,
I have a project that I'd like to work on (debian, PPC based PVR) and I
wanted to try to use a motherboard with 604e CPUs (computational + power
efficiency) and a faster memory bus (because of video data) in macs with
this CPU (typically 50 MHz).
I seem to remember some boards made by
Hi all,
I know this is OT, though
The second RAM row of my AlPB15" G4 isn`t recognized neither in
LINUX nor in OSX. I changed the chips to check them working: OK
Is there a jumper or something to activate the row or do I have to
change the motherboard?
Thank you in advance

Patching pmud won't help you there. You would have to patch the kernel.

Can anyone share with me how to solve the following problem.
I keep some important data on an cryptoloop. But i have to umount it
before suspend to ram / swsusp. On i386 i had configured acpi so
when i pressed the power button the system umounted cryptoloop
and did swsusp. Is this possible on ppc

Hi,

I just upgraded the ram on my system from 512MB to 1024MB and the system
when running in linux does not detect all the ram on the system. OS X
recognizes that two 512 MB PC133 SDRAM chips are installed.
dmesg shows this:
Total memory = 768MB; using 2048kB for hash table (at c060)

I think that's weird, but also easy to fix.
Just type (as root):
# cd /dev; ./MAKEDEV std
It should take care of the device (and of others that may be missing).
Hope this helps, Roger...

Hi,
mol bugs me since the new year began. Here the latest problems:
when I run startmol -X I get following error:
/dev/zero, open: No such file or directory
a "man zero" helped out. But why wasn't the zero device created during the
install process?

I just installed 1G of ram into my 667Mhz tibook DVI. OSX sees it all,
however under linux, the free command only shows 77268 kB. Do I need to
set a kernel parameter or something? I'm running 2.4.20-ben1 (off the
rsync-tree)
