Can't find X Server means that XWindows didn't start up probably.
There's a lot of causes, wrong install, etc....
I also had problems starting X in the beginning when I installed sarge,
this was on both, a G3 Powerbook Pismo and Wallstreet. The cause of the
problem was that the

During installation the PB complained about not being able to find an X

Please note that this will break again with the upcoming changes to the
input device code. /dev/input/mice and IMPS/2 is the combination to use
with the recent kernels.
i had the same problems before, so i looked in the XF86Config file and
there are two lines for me i could found in section pointer for the
mouse:
default was busmouse and /dev/mouse
and i changed to
busmouse and /dev/adbmouse
and the xserver was running.

I saw a couple things in your "Screen" section that should be changed. For the
sake of argument, I will assume that you have at least 2MB of video RAM. That
being said, here are my suggestions:
1. The "Virtual" line seems to be manadatory on a Mac. Without it, I
experienced the flashing scre

Below is what the 'device' and 'screen' sections of XF86Config look
like. As I said in another post, I have not altered this at all.

The screen section of my XF86Config file looks like
this:
# Server for the Linux Frame Buf
Check the Screen section of your XF86Config file. I saw the same thing happen
with a powermac clone. The driver was set to "accel". Try changing it to
"fbdev". A word of extreme caution: anXious did not do a good job of setting
up XF86Config for the powermac clone's Keyboard section either.

Could you post the gory details? It's hard to do much without them...

Hi,
I've just installed Debian on my PowerPC (Motorola machine.
Used to run NT and later AIX - no Mac).
I can't start X, though.
It says /dev/fb0 - no such device.
The device definition is there (Along with fb0current and
fb0autodetect - up to fb7) and I tried them all.
I tried fbset, but it
