I remember that when I installed my Debian, a few weeks ago, I had some kind of trouble with a non-existent interface, which appeared nonetheless in ifconfig, and that messed up my configuration. Is it possible you'd have the same problem ? you can check on that by just doing an "ifconfig". I think

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Right now, untill everything gets together, im just switching the cable back and forth between machines. But AT&T allows up to three different machines per account. i figured id do an ip masquerade setup, but that wont be untill i know i can get the debian machin
