Assuming the Ubuntu packages were the same as the Debian ones in Matt
Zimmerman's repository, the answer is no, they were only for i386.
I patched them enough to build the frontend on powerpc

Ffmpeg does quiet well with altivec optimations, without that it's

cheaper is not relevant when you have powerpc hardware already, and i doubt
any x86 out there c

generally cheaper. the ffmpeg codec also seems to perform better
on x86.
