I'm running the Blackdown 1.3.1 JDK under Debian on my Powerbook, and
I'm noticing some anomalous behavior with a couple of Java apps that I
need for a class. These same apps work fine under the 1.4x Java
installed in the computer labs at the college I work for.
I've heard people mention on th

How about a Java3D-based applet that seamlessly extends IE
and Netscape to handle 3D pages as well

The problem IMO is that these powerful technologies are

If only I had the time. But I do think there is alot of "we don't
have it, so we don't need it" attitude floating around in the

Sure, but the subject was : we've finally got a JVM with JIT under PPC
Linux, and that's nice...
This is not perfect, but great for server side java.
So what ? Are

Ah, of course I don't. I prefer none of those.

xml = JDK 1.4
More rationale for Java Plug-in
Browsers can't stay stuck at 1.1 forever or we all suffer

Amen.
As satisfying as it may be for us to wallow in our "uphill, both
ways, in the snow, img tag the cause of all moral failings"
attitudes, it does occur every now and then in my workaday life that
I must go
like Tomcat, JBoss, Jonas, Netbeans, xalan, xerces,
cocoon, Barracuda,..., then I would recommend you using IBM JDK.
Many thanks to them for making a JIT available on Linux PPC, since it
was long awaited, and was one of the main reasons mac os x was necessary
on a linux ppc box.

Hi,
just to make you Debian people know I had no problem running the latest IBM
JDK 1.3.0 for PPC Linux.
This JDK includes a JVM _WITH_ JIT, and outperformes by far the Blackdown JVM.
The IBM JDK is not free (in the sense of liberté) but is not for sale
either... Well, java is not free
