Indeed, this is the "legacy" x86 driver, it doesn't work on Macs. You
should use CONFIG_PPC_RTC and not CONFIG_RTC on those.

It seems that 2.4 detects correctly the flatpanel, and 2.6 not. This seems to

Im running Debian Linux for powerpc with Benh kernel 2.4.21
(installed pre-compiled for OW SCSI) on a Macintosh PowerPC
9600/300. I have some problems I would like to get some help with.
Heres the first problem: SCSI device dont show!
Output of lspci-vv shows that the system can see my SCSI
OK.
Kernel is ready :)))
After the first error in my previous message I got 2 more of them.
My solution to this was to find the kernel compile options that
I thought were related to the errors and unset them.
I'm not a coder, so this was all I could do.

Hi all
I'm trying to build my own 2.4.21-ben2 kernel, and it seems I've messed up
my kernel .config file that I edited for the build. The file is here:
http://www.geocities.com/wolfgangpfeiffer/config.txt
The kernel builds without any error AFAICS if I don't change the default
.config file as sh
Excuse me if this is a too basic question.
I am trying to install benh's kernel at my iBook SE (Graphite
FireWire iBook).
I got the 2.4.21 source from unstable, then updated it by rsync'ing
benh's.
I managed to compile it all right with make-kpkg, but when dpkg -i

OK, clearly I need to study how to use a search form... I'm sorry for
being obtuse.

Then you should look a little harder. It's been much discussed, and
is on the way to

That's strange because it's been discussed here 3 times in the last month.
change '__u8 short slot_tablelen;' to '__u16 slot_tablelen;' in ide-cd.h on
line 440

Greetings,
I've been having pretty poor luck with kernel compiles recently... I'm
working ATM on trying to build 2.4.20 with the benh patch on a stock
Sarge system (an iMac 266). The compile fails with this:
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.20/include -Wall
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wno
hi there!

benh kernels with pmu-support for my 2.2 ibook.
i still haven't found a solution for this problem. i have attached my

hi folks!
i have trouble compiling the current benh-kernel when i have enabled
CONFIG_PMAC_PBOOK which is needed for apm-emulation.
i have an ibook2.2 and i think i need that for suspending etc.
i got the following error:
arch/ppc/platforms/platform.o(.text+0x340): In function

I thought I had installed a "stable" kernel. Your post made me double check,
sure enough I downloaded and installed the wrong one, i don't even remember
where i found it. I
I would like to compile a customised kernel based on benh patch and applying
some patch such as grsecurity. Here is a summary of what I have done (I have
tried to follow the make-kpkg documentations) :
mkdir /usr/src/benh_kernel || true
rsync -avz rsync.penguinppc.org::linux-2.4-benh /usr/src/be
Hello,
I'm trying to compile a new kernel on my ibook ( with debian ppc ).
First I rsynced the benh kernel, and then tried to make a new
kernel package with
make-kpkg binary ( and kernel_image, tried both )
each time it stopped with the following error:
cp: cannot stat 'arch/ppc/b

Hi!
You find a patch here:

(equals to http://ibook2.rootdir.de/files/usr/src)
just unpack a plain 2.4.20
and apply patch-2.4.20-ben8-xfs.bz2 on it.
I have done this for my xfs and I

Hi everyone!
How can one patch the benh-kernel tree to support XFS?
I installed the debian xfs-kernel-patch and tried to install it
directly, what didn't work aut. Then I tried to install the patch by
hand with "patch -p1 needed files, only three hunks fail.

Hello list folks
I am trying to set up my laptop (powerbook g4 400) for low latency audio work.
I am using a benh 2.4.20rc3 kernel. Is it possible to apply any low latency
patches to this kernel? e.g. these:

Hello all -
I've decided to start using the benh kernel again, but I'm wondering if
there's a distribution method that includes a digital signature? With
some of the recently trojan'd programs (bitchx, sendmail, etc), I'd
prefer knowing that I'm getting the Real
