What do you mean exactly? Should CONFIG_PREEMPT not be used?
And what about CONFIG_PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY?

Yes, I'll #if 0 this code fragment in pmac_ide_setup_device() and test it.
I guess I need to watch this for a while, since the "DMA disabled" was triggered
only rarely. Please be patient.

ed in Debian for powerpc. Bye the way: Does anybody know,
why it is not there for powerpc?
The source code is available under ftp://ftp.linux-wlan.org/pub/linux-wlan-ng/.
I'm using the latest one (linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1-pre26.tar.gz). If you have the
kernel source tree for you compiled kernel, com
this problem already when I used a kernel from the Debian
binary package (where PREEMPT is disabled).
As I've already said in another mail: I still use the Apple
shipped hard disk, not replaced anything. And SMART checks seem to
report no problem.

f this could be some HW problem, how can I test if this really
happens due to HW faults or because of a problem in the Linux kernel?
(Maybe I can figure this out with MacOSX? But how?)
Thanks for any help,

Hi Leonardo,
thanks for the hint. But I didn't find anything about MacOSX support of this
WLAN adapter on the 3Com site. Does the 3CRUSB10075 really wor
s I was able to google, the DLink DWL-122 should be able
to work with both OSes (does it really?), but this is only "11b".
Does anybody know, which USB adapter would meet my needs/wishes?
Thanks for any hint,
