I'm stuck on the same place.
The problem right now is I can't boot from the cdrom.
I have a blue&white g3 (450) and I can't get it to boot of the cd. I
have 'boot of cd' and 'boot of of' on the yaboot menu, but apparently
yaboot can't reach my cd?
I tried booting directly to OF (cmd+apl+O+F) and
I was able to set a good yaboot.conf file and now I can boot.
The only problem that remains is that I can only boot from Open
Firmware.
When the computer boots, I get the screen with my choices (the ones that
are on the yaboot.conf: linux, osx, os9, cd and of.
If I choose anything other than of
not liking it...

I just got a new dual proc 867 and I wanted to install debian on it.
I installed Mac OSX and OS9 leaving a 10 gig free (unallocated) at the
beginning of the drive.
I downloaded one of the network install images and after burning it, I
rebooted the machine. It boots fine, but... it doesn't see hda
I had that problem... I don't know if exactly the same... anyway, the way I
fixed mine was running 'dpkg-reconfigure mozilla-browser' and making sure that
the sound was set to 'None'... Any other option would leave my mozilla frozen.
I guess it's worth a try :)

I need to add that I tried booting off the hard drive, and I can get it to
do so. OF sees the drive obviously, but looks like the installer doesn't.
I tried with hda=noautotune, with hda=autotune and anything I could think
of (copying the whole debian cd to an HFS partition) but still nothing. I

hard drive is not spinning up when the installer runs... I can boot fine

I don't know what happened... I just run apt-get update/upgrade and after
installing a bunch of updates (I'm running unstable) turns out I can't
see/type/copy or paste any non-ascii characters...
I know this is as vague as it can be... but I don't even know where to
start to see what's the problem

Yesterday I was recompiling my kernel when I read the help dialog about
RTAS...
It says there that you can set the startup and shutdown time of the
computer (the same way that the Energy Settings on Mac OS 9)...

I tried to install Debian from the CD and I had some problems. The booting
process died really soon, right after it checked for my video cards.
It's not a CD problem, since it's booting and I've installed debian with
it on my laptop.
