uch work and too unreliable. I
could never get quik to boot unattended into linux, but could do
that with bootx.
Seems to me you need a full bag of tricks to work with the PCI clones.
What works for some of us on some models never works for others on
other models. YMMV.

It's just cruft; I'm figuring a complete wipe and
reinstall of perl once the bigger proportion of the
modules are up to 5.6. YMMV.

Seems to **me** they fall into the category of "not worth the hassle" even
on i86, since they don't always seem to compile out of the box with
make menuconfig even there.
After 3 years of experience with linux pmac I'd suggest de4x5, cards with
generic tu
orks. It's not like
I have spare parts to swap in and out.

Thank you, I have that 4.5 working with stdc++.so.2.8.0 now!

AFAIK that could be my raw X install, netscape or even fvwm2.
Can I ask what libstdc++ version and what netscape version you are using?
349548 Aug 6 1998 libstdc++.so.2.8.0
netscape 4.08 mklinux

re GPF with upgrade of netbase
I'm consistently getting a GPF on my powermac 603ev when
I try to upgrade netbase. (Clean install from scratch).
Might it be because I'm using Paul M's 2.1.130 kernel and
not one of my own ( or from debian )?

bring it up from scratch I'm hesitant simply to force this
upgrade through.
Can anyone suggest an approach?

s.
-30.src built fine and let root log in.
The -29 is the current latest in the powerpc binaries, what you get with
apt-get upgrade.

nd it hung. Killed syslogd and got
the shell prompt on that new console.
sysklogd_1.3-29.deb powerpc
Everything on that machine tracks unstable.
I don't know if this is a bug or something local. Has
anyone else run into it?

Christopher F. Miller,
re ld-linux on slink powerpc
What should I be seeing for ldd on a slink powerpc?
I wonder because all my i86 machines are showing so.2:
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x4000)
and my powerpc is showing ld-linux.so.1.
TIA

Another thing, the install scripts for dpkg were failing
because the install-info was segfaulting. I'm not sure
which package that was in.
