Is this a known issue? More likely it is me doing something silly?
I'm running xserver-xfree86 4.2.1-11 and kernel version 2.4.22-ben2

Hello all,
I have one other problem in the upgrade to sarge. inn2 won't install.
I keep getting the error:
/etc/news/inn.conf: cannot create /etc/news/inn.conf.new.1464: No such

Hello all,
I've just upgraded from woody to sarge which went reasonably smoothly,
but now the xserver won't start. I've tried to figure it out, but nothing
seems to work. I'm giving up for tonight (it's 1.30 and I need some
shut-eye).
Any help would be appreciated.

Problem solved.
I found 2.4.19 at kernel.org compiled it and the problems have gone
away. Thanks to the PPC kernel hackers for that.

A bit silly replying to my own message, but I just tried it with 2.4.10

Sorry this is a dumb question. Are there any binaries of Xfree86 4.0.x or do I
have to compile it myself. If there are binaries, where are they?
Thanks

can think of is to get an ethernet to localtalk bridge (too
expensive!!), the other thing is that you can buy a serial kit for the printer
(also too expensive).
Anyone have any other ideas?

Sorry, this is probably a dumb question.
Is acroread available for DebianPPC? If not are there any ways I can look at
pdf files?

h recovers the error and allows me to dial into my ISP is a
reboot. This happened as well when I was running LinuxPPC. I asked then, but
no one knew of a fix.
My guess is that it is a bug in the 6500. Does any one know anything about
this and of any possible work arounds?
Thanks

OK, pcmcia hangs his Powerbook with a kernel panic.
He doesn't know whether he should use tcic or i82365. When he doesn't
configure pcmcia the same hap
s fine.
However, on boot it doesn't work.
/etc/rc2.d/S20wwwoffle links to ../init.d/wwwoffle btw.
The solution to this is probably really simple, but I just can't see it.

Am I doing something stupid? Or is there something wrong here? Should I

OK I give up on the rtl8139. I can probably get it working if I learn how
to write device drivers and I haven't got the time at the moment :-). And
and if I
can't get it to work I'll bung it in my i386 box. If I really, really
can't get it working are there any NICs that people would recommend?

Fixed it!! I'm very happy.
I tried turning off gpm, but it was just the same. The trick was to
recompile the kernel. There is an option which is:
CONFIG_FB_COMPAT_XPMAC
make sure this is set to Y. Then patch the kernel with the patch on the
potato CD originating from Ben H. (I tried compilin
on on Xpmac.
I have /dev/mouse pointing to /dev/adbmouse, btw.
I've also checked out Ben H's page on kernels, and there is something
there about adb mice not working without some work around. However, I
don't think this is my problem because my mouse works in gpm
Thanks
