G'day,
I just upgraded my kernel to 2.2.19 and while running "dpkg-
reconfigure console-data" the machine froze, leaving me with a keymap
that doesnt work with either kernel.
Any suggestions on how to get back into this machine?
(5500/225, 2.2r3, bootX 1.2.2)
cheers,
Paul

6100's are nubus machines (pre PCI) and are not directly supported by
any distro.
If you want to run this machine go to
http://nubus-pmac.sf.net
Supports Debian, YDL, LinuxPPC, and MkLinux. I beleive the 6100 is
one of the better supported machines.

Windoze file-sharing has never been part of the MacOS.
You are thinking of either TCP file sharing (which has been round for
a while) or a 3rd party product.

Really? If I run 9.1 (or 9.0,9.04) I cannot close a window wi
Dont worry bout that one. The debian install on nubus has 4 or 5
steps that will not work (PCMCIA, boot from disk, rescue floppy,
etc). Just scroll to the next step and keep on going, then reboot
when needed.

BTW you can put the modules in later if you need to.

Hi Phil,
you wont get much help on this list. You need to go to
http://nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net
for info on installing on these machines (currently supports Debian,
YDL, LinuxPPC, MkLinux)
There are also links to the mailing list and kernel archive.
Be warned that support for the 1400 is not as g
Monolithic linux kernel will _not_ work on these machines.
There is a project for nubus machines underway but support for the performas is
lagging. If you are interested go to
http://nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net
Cheers,
Paul

Yes, been using zope for a few months.

Not really, theres a fair bit of learning involved to get working with DTML -
but - Zope does allow use of HTML and 'structured text' which is parsed into
HTML. Very
We now have a working ramdisk installer, so it is now much
easier to install debian on nubus. Just grab the fake 'Mach
Kernel' and the MkLinux Booter from
ftp://penguin.tough.net.au
change your root device to /dev/ram and reboot. Its that
easy.
If you have any problems just mail me.

change /etc/apt/sources.list back to stable and run apt-get
update again. You should be back to normal then.
Dont know if any of you on this list would be interested,
but I have debian and a modified 2.4 kernel installed on my
old nubus machine (7100/66AV). Runs great with stable and
testing. If anyone is interested I can post the full
instructions.

Try 'Xconfigurator' instead.

yep, just the one connection for a floppy drive. They're hot swappable too.
