You have to fine tune the daemons running on your system, because one
single cache miss will make the disk spin up (cups, postfix, ntpd,
sysklogd, etc. are daemons to watch closely).

So I concluded is some sort of problem between linux (both my thinkpad
and ibook) and _my_ apple basestation.
Past weekend I retried 2.6.1-ben1 against my apple basestation with web
enabled, did n

/etc/modutils/whatever and /etc/modprobe.d/whatever.
If you no longer boot a modular 2.4 kernel, then you can forget about

(that's what the above discussion is about, not about kernel support for
that option).
Having the option of enabling/disabling it, I would prefer my kernel
having support for it.

I'm wrong.
I'm using it in my iBook (along with pmud and pbbuttons) and in an IBM
Thinkpad without any problem at all. I also use it in 2 desktops
without cpu frequency scaling (just to keep a second disk in standby
because I almost don't use it).
