powerpc".
But http://packages.debian.org/sid/ipmitool only gives downloads for i386 and
amd64.
What does one have to do to make the buildds actually build a version for
powerpc ?

using these steps (I am not an Xorg specialist):
1. Add Option ... in xorg.conf
2. Restart computer and enter X
3. snoopy:~$ xrandr -q

I have been unable to update for several weeks. Update stops at
