I have been trying to install debian on an IBM js20 blade server.
Using the latest etch-testing debian cd from:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/etch_di_rc1/powerpc/iso-cd/
has yielded much more success then sarge alternatives, however this cd
is lacking support for the i2c-amdk111 bus. I have

Just want to say thanks for the PPC port to all the developers and
users. I just had a pleasant experience installing the latest
daily-snapshot (2.6.18-3) netinstall into my Rev-A G5 iMac.
I'm also successfully booting it from a 40gB external firewire

Hi Guys
For sake of not repeating the same topics in this thread I will start
off by saying that I am also a recent convert to Debian Testing PPC
from Ubuntu 6.10. My primary motivation for moving to Debian was as a
result of a recent decision by Canonical to drop support for PPC as of

It seems to be as simple as to create that file:
mknod /dev/console c 5 1
Or let the kernel load devfs with a statement in the append line:
devfs=mount,all
Cheers,

Hi folks!
I'm trying to install Debian sarge in a Power Macintosh 8500/150
(Old World). The problem is that the newest floppy disks aren't
booting. When I use the image boot.img the pc doesn't accept the disk
and spit it out.
So I tried to use a older image, but then I have other

Hi Michel,
We've discovered the problem lies with the kernel configuration: the
standard Debian 2.6.18 kernel Switches Users fine. Our custom kernels
however, do not.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure what exactly isn't configured properly. My
kernel is essentially a standard g5_defconfig, plus firewa
