What is the Gnome application serving as an addressbook? I've tried to
apt-get gnome-pim and it no longer exists. I need something like KDE's
addressbook. Thanks.

Thanks, but that file does not help, it is for a different computer and
video card altogether.

I 'discovered' a way for Gnome to use my CUPS printer. Before, Gnome
applications would only print to lpr. I discovered I could replace lpr
with xpp to bring up a great printer interface -- works like a charm.

The disk seems to be dead. At least, the IDE controller thinks so.
Or it might not be. I've seen similar behavior - not on a PPC system,

I have a Power Mac G4 400mHz AGP, with an ATI Rage 128 Pro Video card.
It is connected to a Planar CT1904Z LCD display, through the DVI port.
I've installed debian unstable with XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1
Any time I try to load the Xserver either by GDM or manually, it crashes and
gives me an error

Hi Jim
First, can you cc the list in your replies?
Also are you running debian, modconf is the tool of choice for
configuring modules on a debian system. You can use modprobe or insmod,
my experience with either is somewhat sketchy but you could try
insmod dmasound_core & insmod dmasound_pmac

I'm trying to play mp3s from a SMB mount over 802.11b (my Powerbook's
internal Airport card).
For some reason, they skip terribly under Rhythmbox, but sound fine
under XMMS or JuK. Unfortunately, I really prefer the interface of
Rhythmbox to either of the other two, and would prefer to use tha
I've been trying to apt-get (through mirrors.kernel.org) Gnome 2.2.6 for
the ppc. Debian says there is an unmet dependency:
"The following packages have unmet dependencies:
Depends: gnome-games (>=1:2.6.0) but 1:2.4.3-3 is to be installed"
What do I do? Thanks.

Hi,
We try to install Debian 3.0.2 on a macOSX. To prevent problems on the
main hard drive, we would like to install Debian on a second one. It's
an IBM DHEA-36481 of 6,4 Go. We had formated it and create two
partitions on it : one for exchange datas and the other to install
debian. And we pu

If you are executing a shell from Xwindows, you may need to do "su"

hi
is it a ppc system? There are some specific kernel modules written for
getting sound on your macintosh - depending on what kernel you have
installed and the machine, these modules are something like
dmasound_core & dmasound_pmac
Try executing "modconf" and in the list of modules look for somet
