when I'm trying to run gnucash, the splash screen opens and displays
some information about loading modules. It then disappears, and the
program crashes with an "illegal instruction" signal.

I have looked at many a Linux of Tibook install pages and I have not
found a clear answer to the current status of DRI/DRM support within
Xfree and the Kernel. I am running Debian Unstable on a TiBook IV.

Well, this might explain why Blender now seems to restart the X server
when I try to run it. PB G3 500 FW. Testing. Also saw those packages

I've finally got Linux installed on the G3 minitower, but had to cheat a
little. I eventually had to install using the serial port as the console
after booting with BootX. Any attempt to use the display as the console
would lock the machine up at varying places in the install.
