-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have looked at many a Linux of Tibook install pages and I have not found a clear answer to the current status of DRI/DRM support within Xfree and the Kernel. I am running Debian Unstable on a TiBook IV. Kernel version is 2.6.5, and I have XFree86 4.3.
I tried to research the legions of webpages and mailing list archives with instructions for Linux on TiBooks and all of them refer to getting Daenzer's Xfree DRI trunk. I tried to follow those instructions, but the I had some problems making the modules. Anyway, I tried just using the radeon module from the kernel and it seems to be working...How can I verify this? I tried glxinfo and it seems that DRI is functioning. glxgears looks fine, as does tuxracer.... odin:/home/brady# grep -i radeon /usr/src/linux/.config CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=m # CONFIG_FB_RADEON_OLD is not set CONFIG_FB_RADEON=y CONFIG_FB_RADEON_I2C=y # CONFIG_FB_RADEON_DEBUG is not set odin:/etc/modutils# lsmod Module Size Used by snd_pcm_oss 67204 1 radeon 138320 2 ds 23716 2 yenta_socket 19456 0 snd_mixer_oss 23104 2 snd_pcm_oss pcmcia_core 72916 2 ds,yenta_socket usbcore 125304 0 snd_powermac 41232 2 snd_pcm 118680 2 snd_pcm_oss,snd_powermac snd_page_alloc 13636 1 snd_pcm snd_timer 28836 1 snd_pcm snd 64024 5 snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_powermac,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 11268 3 snd airport 7712 0 orinoco 53172 1 airport hermes 14976 2 airport, orinoco odin:/home/brady# glxinfo name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes server glx vendor string: SGI server glx version string: 1.2 So, do I need the Daenzer's XFree stuff or does the vanilla Kernel and Xfree work?
