Thanks all. I'm using the same. Running at 51C now for the hdd on the
iBook. I guess thats "normal"; after all, the ambient temperature is now
about 33C in

Chris,
Thanks a lot. That was exactly what i was after.
It does still leave me with a question or two,
however. The last two lines of that document
appear to be (more or less) what I need to do:
cd /usr/share/keymaps/i386/qwerty/
cp mac-usb-us.kmap.gz
/etc/console/boottime.kmap.gz
But,...

Isn't there an option in 2.6 that needs to be specifically enabled to include
non-compiling drivers?

Hello Joe,
I've just taken a look at your iBook kernel 2.6 Mini-HOWTO which is
really interesting and usefull during the kernel migration task, well
done -- Thanks for such a tutorial.
At this point I have just a simple question:
Kernel 2.6 makes Daenzer's drm-trunk-modules obsolete because
Hi all,
Last night I rsynced the 2.4 benh tree. And I try to compile...
$ rsync blah
$ make mrproper
$ make-kpkg kernel_image
I had this error :
(I tried deleting defkeymap like benh propose but without different
result)
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/benh_kernel/include -Wall
-Wstrict-prototypes -
Hi,
since I switched to a custom-compiled 2.4.23 kernel (rsync'ed from
mvista), I get two files in /var/log/ksymoops everyday, labeled
.ksyms and .modules.
The former one contains the same as `ksyms -a`, and the later is empty.
As I am not very familiar with kernel symbols, I was
wondering if thi

Hi (again) everybody. I am (again) in need of
some assistance.
I have been trying to boot a new kernel (Ive
tried both a 2.4 and a 2.6) off CD while pointing
it at my installed (by potato-2.2.17) root
filesystem (on a G4). It boots up OK, with two
(fairly problematical) exceptions. One, it

Hi list and merry christmas to all,
I am running 2.6.0-ben2 on a alpb G4 1Ghz. I compiled the cvs version
from prism54, rebuilt the patched kernel, placed firmware at right
place, modprobed yenta_socket and plugged in my SMC2835W card.
prism54 is loaded but syslog tells:
