Michel,
I've been seeing this error whenever I run make-kpkg modules_clean over
drm-trunk:
test -f debian/control.m4
if [ ! $UID = 0 ]; then echo "not root!"; exit 1; fi
[: 1: 0: unexpected operator
If you wrap the $$UID in double quotes the test performs correctly.

Hi all,
this might be a topic that's been discussed here already before: But what
I found on Google on the subject, IIRC, didn't say anything on whether
there is a *solution* for the problem. Or isn't there any?
What I have:
Kernel: 2.4.18-newpmac
Hardware:
Powerbook3.5 (version = 3.2)
867 MHz

I've just upgraded the kernel (2.4.18-newpmac -> 2.4.21-powerpc)
on my G4 PowerBook and I can no longer change the brightness of
the screen with function keys F1/F2.
When I use "showkey" from the console, I get for these two keys:
keyboard: unknown scancode e0 4c
keyboard: unknown scancode e0 54

Hi Fred,
from the .config parts you sent, it seems your kernel uses ADB keycodes
(CONFIG_MAC_ADBKEYCODES=y). This means your kernel needs an "old"
'console-data' package with ADB keycodes, instead of Linux keycodes.
(More details in http://www.debian.org/ports/powerpc/keycodes). If your

Most PReP/CHRP systems have a PCI/ISA bridge and a PC-style Super I/O

The problem, AFAIR, is that the new hardware uses a UDMA/100 controller
that is not supported by the woody bootdisks.
I think that you may be able to find a

Was there anything else using the module? What does /sbin/lsmod say?
