Hi Fred, from the .config parts you sent, it seems your kernel uses ADB keycodes (CONFIG_MAC_ADBKEYCODES=y). This means your kernel needs an "old" 'console-data' package with ADB keycodes, instead of Linux keycodes. (More details in http://www.debian.org/ports/powerpc/keycodes). If your upgrade modified you console data, this might have messed up your keyboard.
I'm not sure though that this is your real problem, since normally even with a wrong console-data package, your keyboard should still produce output (except for keys being switched in some mad pattern).
