hi people,
I'm currently working on adding a section to my web site concerning OF,
various mac/mac-clone models, booting (esp. older models, where it can
be a challenge even for an experienced person to do so), and various
other things. I've partially mirrored netbsd's pages (with modifications

Hello,
It is possible to boot from a HD on a SCSI Adaptec 2940 with debian
2.4.18? I search the driver in the kernel source but I found nothing.
Thx

Why does one have to remove the 'UseFBDev'? Also, isn't fbdev required for
using the internal lcd screen? So mirroring isn't supported?

I read somewhere that the internal speaker in the B&W G3's won't work under
Linux, but you can get output from the soundcard.
That being said, here's a couple things to try:
1) Make sure your user account is a member of the 'audio' group

Err, my approach is quite different: non-free software must be
ignored. I won't read flash if I need non-free software to
read it. I'm perfectly OK w
Hello,
my Beige G3 has sometimes a strange behaviour. As far as I could see, a
black stripe splits the whole screen (seems like a console intrusion), and
xmon ouput is displayed.
I could add that it happens after moving from one desktop to another, but I
often switch between desktops.

Don't forget the external monitor port, it doesn't really work at all iirc.

Okay I give up. Ive installed Debian PPC 3.0r1 three times now,
installed and updated ALSA along the way as well.
For some reason it will not recognize and setup my internal sound on my G3.
I know during the configuration of Debian, I told it option 47-powermac.
Ive done this everytime Ive reinst

you end up using oss-emulation suppo

Both oopsen in there seem to be related to ext3. Maybe something's wrong
with the filesystem?

My understanding is that the Flash file format if documented.
If this is true,
At least python-numeric and gcc-3.3 fail to build. Please reschedule.
