Successes on my newworld G4 Cube -Rage128:
-Debian again boots by default
-console works now with the right "german" console-maps.
(as symbols I also now can type \,@,~,|,{[]} )
-I also got X working with xserver-xfree version 4.0.3-3
With 'startx' I can start icewm as the default wm.
But.
um, something that people informed me about when I hosed my system
was that you can boot the system holding down the cmd-opt-P-R keys,
and it will reset the nvram to the defaults so you can start all
over again trying to get it to boot with OF/quik. When this

That would work, but I used tabs to make two columns; using the editor lets
me choose how much space for a tab so it's more readable and also gives the
novice an interface to use to search for keywords, and scroll back and

I downloaded the 6/7 powerpc version of 2.3.5 from
http://people.debian.org/~aph/debian/dists/woody/main/disks-powerpc/current/
powermac/
I completed an install on my newworld, up to installation of base, with no
show stoppers. The dhcp worked great, I verified I could ping on the net.

hello,
exactly the same thing happened to me, and if you know
how to get into the OF then you can change the settings
to boot from floppy, and then you don't need macOS.
but i couldn't do it, i even tried the exact same stuff
as you. since i couldn't see the OF (i even tried

Which package providing libgl1 did you have installed then? mesag3?
Anyway, this should probably be reported to the libqt2 maintainer, preferrably
via a bug report.

How far do
Well, I finally got my 2.4 kernel to compile, using BenH's tree, rsync'd
and all. But then try to boot using it? Didn't work. What sorts of
details do I need to provide? Are there any "gotchas" I should know

I'm using woody, with a modified 2.2.18 kernel that includes a patch for
my Voodoo
The package (xlibmesa3) wasn't installed at all! KDE is working again
after I installed it.

I got myself an old PPC8200/120 (same Specs as
the 7200) and was/am about to install debian
2.2r3 on it.
The mac-harddrive is empty. There is no macos
on it.
As booting from CD did not work I used the hfs-bootdisk
together with the rootdisk from the ppc-debian-cd to
install debian.

O.K. How do I enable "network address translation and "IP Forwarding"
Are these kernel compile options? And if so, are there any others I
need to enable, such as ip masquerading?

I hope there hasn't already been a thread about this...
I apt-get'd the kernel source from debian (apt-get install 2.4) and it
downloaded all these files. I go into the kernel-source-2.4.4 and
compile away happily, until I get this error:
