Hmm. We're just about at the point where I can no longer expect
to be able to upgrade anything significant (using 'apt-get
upgrade' or 'apt-get install ') without having to upgrade
my C libraries first. But the last time I allowed apt-get upgrade
to touch the C libraries, I had tons of problems.

There are some (rather terse) docs at:

Hi
I have been trying to install debian-powerpc on my PowerBase200 machine. It
gets stuck at the "install Kernel and Modules" step - it finds the resc1440.bin
image (which I put on my LinuxPPC partition), but is unable to mount it.
The error message suggests using '-o loop' in the mount com
don't be tempted to put in a rock-ridge partition or make it hybrid
though. i found that new-world machines' OF ignores the hfs data if it can
find an iso partition yet they can't properly boot from the iso partition.

i used toast to create a bootable image, but didn't let it optimize so
there's a lot of free space in the hfs partition.
now i can loop-mount it under linux (hfs finds the right partition in the
image to mount) to fix up the content and i don't have to use toast again

It's -t msdos (or, more likely) -t vfat that you're after. dos filesystem is a
primitive that the others are built on top of, isn't it?

I recently installed potato on a ppc, and I also went through the
frustrating and confusing dselect problems with the man-db package. I did
not have a problem with dselect wanting to install the mentioned libc6-bin
package, although it tried really hard to get me to install jgroff.
(dselect had a
Hi,
the current man-db depends on groff (> 1.15-2) the current version of
groff on powerpc is still 1.15-1 however (its up to 1.15-3 on i386)
this prevents man-db update/installation on powerpc right now.
furthermore, dselect is pulling another `libc6-bin' it would appear,
