Finally it was the right thing to get a precompiled
kernel and boot this one with BootX. The system came
up again without problems.
I couldn't hesitate to try this kernel compiling again.
This time I made the "make modules" and "make modules_install

We use glibc-2.1. If you like, replace all binaries with the debian
binaries. The kernel itself doesn't depend on any glibc version.

I just joined the list and am curious what stage of development the
powerpc port is at. I was hoping to install a copy, but the
instructions found on the webpage seem outdated and unclear.
