Maybe a different hierarchy for only changelogs is in order.

/usr/share/docs should only be the actual docs.
As a side note, when is everything actually going to go to
/usr/share/doc as opposed to /usr/doc?

The separate doc packages should unpack into either /usr/share/doc/[package] or

This would cut down on the number of elements in /usr/share/doc and would put

docs in a more sane location.

It's no different. They both compile c code. Maybe a little
different, but their command line interface is 99% equivalent. gcc3 is
just closer to ANSI.
