I've come across a number of such packaging bugs while porting to
Alpha. There's absolutely no reason for _really_ having root
priviledges when building a .deb; whatever gathers the stuff into
the .deb (dpkg-deb I believe) apparently ensures that the files in
the archive have the c
the manpage to an alternate name; the real manpage got gzipped, and
debmake neatly renamed the symlink to comply with policy. I might
have missed that (at least at first :-).
I also prot many packages for the Alpha, and I find that the debhelper
packages take much longer to build; the seeming
ymbol...).
Anyway, I think the $ at the end of the word is a bit paranoid, and will
lead to confusion if someone accidentally puts a space at the end.

u can upload a new version with the corrected section, and see where it
gets installed. If it stays in the wrong section, submit a bug against
ftp.debian.org (or reply to the "INSTALLED" email).

It wasn't available when hamm was released.
So, it's in slink. Currently dists/slink/main/binary-all/devel

Upload often. That way it will be tested by many more people, who will
find bugs you will never encounter. So, expect bug reports, and handle
them gracefully. The people reporting them are doing you a favour!
BTW, a lot of this is also the the "developers reference", which is a
package, or follow the "developers' corner" link on www.debian.org.

OK, I gave in and added a dialog to the
ccess. Help?!
Hint: maybe you should check out slink, if it's not in hamm... it might
be something relatively new!

I've put an initial version of linpopup in ~paul on master, so if anyone
wants to have a look...
I've used /var/state, and I don't add anything to smb.co
that are interactive in the postinst phase. My
preference is to display a message saying to look in
/usr/doc/linpopup/... for what to do. Opinions?
I guess it would be OK for the postrm to remove any reference to
linpopup in smb.conf, as leaving it in will probably cause mysterious
errors.
T

But maybe you want to get in touch with [EMAIL PROTECTED] (also check the
archive!) ? He's the one who works on egcs for alpha most of the time.

Anyway, if it is done automagically, should the same be expected for
ip-{up,down}.d scripts? Or should I simply copy the script into the
debian/tmp/etc/cron.weekly directory?
probably confused,
