To wrap-up this thread, and for the record:
Do we want to reach out to HeroDevs?
Do we want to EOL these packages?
Do we want to try and fix this ourselves?
for now LTS mostly went for 3) with non-official and own patches.
I'm not aware of efforts from other distros.
