what's the use case for this?
{Install,Remove}_package() are only to be called for packages that are
needed during binary stage.

I've just uploaded a beta of a newer version of our (Xorcom)'s live CD.
It is a live CD based on Debian Live with latest version of DAHDI
(replacement of Zaptel) and a pretty recent version of Asterisk. It is
intended mostly for our customers to test our hardware with.

It apears that many people don't like the default of kpdf (in KDE3) and
Okular (in KDE4) of obeying the "DRM" limitations. Bad defaults are
naturally a more stressing issue on a live system.
This example hook script should make it simpler for you to change the
default on your live Lenny system.
