Hi, all.
I'm gradually migrating from Mandrakelinux to Debian.
As soon as possible I want to buy a notebook.
Going around the shops I saw a certain number of notebooks,
that I'm reporting below. I couldn't find any of them listed at:
http://tuxmobil.org/mylaptops.html
nor at:

Do you mean when you connect the laptop to a desktop monitor
(or the laptop's display?)?

Thanks indeed to all who wrote.
In the net I could find some very good occasions with some
of the notebooks that have been suggested.
But the trouble is, that most of them are without
a DVD recorder, and I wish a computer with a DVD recorder.
Some other, like the Dell Inspiron 8200, are too expens

I'm looking for a DVD recorder inside the laptop,
and maybe there are new models of the IBM Thinkpad R50e
with this feature.

After the base installation I did:

$ startx
nor with:
$ gnome-session
. Any help

Hi.
I don't manage to turn off my Hyundai 255KI 15,
Debian Sarge 3.1, neither with '# shutdown -h now'
nor with '# halt'.
Any help?
Instead, I can reboot the computer with '# reboot'.
Also, I can turn it off with Mandrake 10.1 with '$ halt'.
Thanks for any help.
Rodolfo

Hi, listers.
It seems to me that the screen resolution of my Hyundai 255KI 15
is lower than normal: everything appears too big.
When I run 'dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86' the resolution value
is always 1920×1440, and remains so although I put it on 1024×768.
I have Debian Sarge stable.
