I installed debian (netinstall) on a T61 Thinkpad which worked fine until I
booted my system after the installation.
The monitor turns blank after a few seconds and the system did not respond
anymore. It tooks me a few reboots to read the last error message.

(ms-modem). The modem worked but I can't get into the web (KPPP worked fine
and told me as well that I am conected but ping -c 2 www.yahoo.com prompts

notebook is the best (for Linux) but I can strongly recommend IBM notebooks,
they are even "Linux certified" by Suse and IBM (if you can read german ->

With the slmdm 2.7.10 kernel modules for SmartLink Soft Modems support and the
patch apllied it worked.
But now KPPP responded that it is unable to open the modem.
lspci -v showed up with
