Hi guys,
I'm having some headaches with our WLAN. We're going online with 2
laptops, that means we try. We do have the following setup:
The router is a Speedport W 303V and we do have the folloeing laptops:
Asus M6N, Intel ipw2100 driver, Debian/sid with wicd
Acer Aspire 5680, Atheros AR2413 w
nt ubuntu vesion.
OK I was thinking to update to 10.4 anyway. Just wanted to wait if
there'll pop up some serious bugs. I'll take this opportunity to switch
to wicd and hope she wont realise;-)

e WPA and WEP protocol every few seconds. This was
inteded to enhance security, but my debian laptop did not work with that.
Best regards
Andreas
Yes I do use an WPA2 encrypted connection.How did you solve it?

unfortunately no, I'm glad there is some logging at all
with Debian.
You should have a look at http://www.linux-laptop.net/ before buying.

I've read an article about powertop. It should tell you what'S consuming
the power on your machine.

I finally found the solution. I'm running kernel 2.6.23 because 2.6.20
to 2.6.22 does not recognize my battery (a well known bug). I've jsut
booted with the Debian kernel 2.6.22 and 3D apps run well with fglrx.

Drivers for ipw2200 are in Kernel since 2.6.14, so this step should not
be needed. For me all I had to dowas copy the firmware to /li
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
psk="MYPW"
}
I have the following in my /etc/interfaces
# WLAN
iface eth2 inet dhcp
wpa-driver wext
wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_psk.conf
auto eth2
and it works fine.

It used to work ages ago with sarge but now that I switched to sid I
don't get my hotkeys working again. Do you have any hint's i can look
at. All examples I found so far on the web are pretty similar to my attempt.

Hi Preston,
to speed up the boot time you can have a look at insserv.

ibernating randomly which is very annoying. I
haven't detected a system in when its hibernating but definitely the
battery level is not critical when it does so.
Any hints?
