till seem to have lost my proper timezone, but that's not so important to
me. Also the ntp daemon for setting the clock from the network won't work for
quids, but I guess that is a question for another time.
In short, try setting the clock from Windows (heh) and see if it'll work better
after that.

thought CD#2 was supposed to be set up as a boot installation disk for

Thanks for your offer. Actually, it's seems to be working now! (this always
happens to me. I think there must be some daemon in my computer palying tricks
on
me) The reason I thought it wasn't was that I tried to c

"workstation" option. So, among other things, I got both emacs 19 *and* 20
installed! Now I'd like to be able to trim back
stuff I don't actually need or want, and it would make more sense to sack the
larger packages first.
So what's the best way of

bit lame, but I couldn't think of anything better. If you think it's
useful, feel free to let the people on the debian users mailing list know about
it. (I don't subscribe there because the bandwidth is too large).

Can anyone help me? What has happened to exim between slink and potato to
cause this sort of problem? exim otherwise seems to work - it sent off this
letter alright. And I don't think it's a potato bug, rather it's an
unfortunate configuration problem.

Yes, that's the problem. I don't re
7;s the latter, but
the question still remains
of whether the carrier speed is "V.90 (56K)" or "34K" or what.
Can anyone spare a short word to explain this business a little more
clearly? The PPP How-To doesn't really go into these questions.

Hi,
can anyone help me sort out the security on my potato box? I had no
problems like this with slink...
I have sshd running, which I believe is responsible for handling incoming
telnet connections. I want to be able to telnet into my machine from
certain defined addresses (eg from home).
I've

I haven't touched pam.d, so it should be all at the potato defaults.
I gather /etc/pam.d/login is the relevent file.
