I've been using sarge on my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop for a while now with no
problems. I'm using a custom kernel built from the 2.4 kernel series using
debian packaging tools as well as the non-free nvidia video drivers (I

Just an update on this problem...
I ran another apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade last night and things went
mostly back to normal (whatever caused the problem appears to have been
fixed). It looks like some sort of hardware probing was causing
the laptop monitor to get all weird. When I tried

my experience. I would describe myself as fairly knowledgable about linux... I
first installed RedHat 4.2 on a gateway desktop I got in 1997, and
I lived with it for a while because I was finishing my PhD, then moving, then
my wife and I had a baby... I would show you some convoluted scripts I used to
get java and ant to work in the cygwin directory structure, but all those
adjustmenst were wiped.
I tried compiling the acx100 0.2.0pre6 tarb
I've been using apm to suspend to ram and it's been working... I have not tried
to suspend to disk. When the computer comes back up after being suspended often
there is a flickering on the left of the screen or sometimes the whole screen
is vertically offset (the lowest portion of the screen on top

unusable border around the edge of the screen and a small usable X windows
setup within that. I didn't try pushing it to 1600x1280 with nv... I would love
