Hi Debian,
i would like to upgrade the RAM of my Acer Travelmate 8005 running
with Sid: is there a linux program to see what kind of RAM is it
installed (PC2700, PC3200??) ? Is it possible to install two modules
with different size, like 512+256 MB?
Thanks in advance,
MC

Hi Alan,
thank you very much for your help. With dmidecode i realized that i
have two banks of 256 each of DDR RAM. Do you know if it's possible to
leave one bank of 256 MB and install in the other a bank with different
size (let's say 512 MB or 1 GB)?
Thanks again,
MC

Hello,
I am running a custom 2.6.8 kernel on a Dell Inspiron 5000e, Pentium
III (Coppermine) processor. My problem is that the
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0 directory is empty, which causes problems
when I try to run cpufreqd. I think this is just becase the speedstep
driver isn't loaded, but when

Hi,
In the bios screen, there's settings for hard-disk spin-down times.
Does this mean i don't need to worry about setting hdparm?
I put debian-sid on a dell C610 latitude.

Should "Power Management" be enabled in the bios or disabled?
(ie: does linux handle it regardless of bios?)

Which one should i use for a Dell C610 with sid?
I've looked thru the scripts in /etc and they seem
equally covered.

only one memory bank. And the chip in it says only 256MB! Where is
