Hi guys,
I have a laptop running Debian unstable and I'm having trouble getting
the pcmcia service to pick up my network card.
The card I have uses the Tulip module from the kernel.
When I plug the card in the slot the card is not detected, but if I put
the card in the slot and then load the mod

I am having the same problem that you seem to be having with my Gateway 2150
Laptop. I read your information regarding the problem. Did you get an
answer to the problem and if so would you please share it with me ?
Thank you for your time and input.

Hardware failure. I know it because I had the same problem.
Perhaps, you could mount the disk over another system and copy important
files using fs copy utility like DAR, it can copy underneath hardware
failures, ignoring the I/O errors.
Good luck

I mounted an external drive and copied off everything I could. I
already got the replacement hard drive from Dell, and am in the
process of configuring sarge on it. I have to say, btw, sarge 2.6
installation has been the smoothest linux installation I've had yet.
Didn't have to do almost anything.
