I've been thinking in "upgrading" my laptop and i've been looking to ECS
i-Buddie 530, it's not a regular laptop, it's what they call a desknote.
It's a laptop without a battery assembled with regular pc components. To
me it's what i need because, i only use my laptop where i can plug it

Can someone tell me her/his impressions? I'd like to install a Debian 3.1 on
a HP Omnibook and I wish using journaled fs principally to avoid fschk's...

Ive been running ext3 on two older Thinkpads, a 755ce and 560. I have not done
any speedtests

There was a thread earlier on this list named "No fsck in battery mode".
There's explained why you shouldn't stop regular fs-checks even if you
use a journaling-FS.

The best way is to choose the 2.4 kernel in the install. This allows
you to choose ext3 or reiserfs right there.
If you dont do it this way, you have to upgrade the kernel later and
the only way i know of migrating the whole system is using tune2fs -j
/dev/h?? to migrate from ext2 t

Im able to ping domains as well as Ip addresses. I even ping the debian mirrors
and they were up and running (of course they are running debian =)
