I got an old acer laptop (p2/233) from a fried that has some
problems. The metallic claws that hold the LCD are rust & thus
it's hard to open/close the screen, so the plastic covers of the
screen got broken. I opened the screen & tried to fix it, but
these claws/holders must be replaced.

With APIC on, my FX301 does the same.
In linux.kernel there is a patch that works for me. It stops APIC
at reboot.

i have an asus l3c with radeon 7500 and i just installed debian
from knoppix and it works really well with 3D.
but the radeon driver from the 2.4.21 doesn't work well. You have
to download the source of xlibmesa4 and compile its modules.

does anyone run debian on a sony g390? I've been wanting to try it, but
the sound doesnt work correctly under other distros. Also, power
management (standy, hibernation) does not work either. These are things
I need and I'd like to know if people have had success before I invest
time installing
