When you choose linux at boot time, append the "video=vga16:off" after
linux, like:
boot: Linux video=vga16:off
Then if you haven't installed x-window-system, you'll get the console.
Log in, and edit the /etc/lilo.conf file:
there is a line:
# append=""
after that write:
append="video=vga16:off"

I've tried S1 and it stoped my pc, but i was unable to recover from that

Hi,
I have a strange problem: I run linux progress patch (LPP) for
displaying nice graphical logo during the boot. My splash screen is
large (1024x768), and my console is therefore set to /dev/tty2 (to avoid
cluttering up the boot screen).
I can work normally since the system is up; it happens, h

I run Debian on my Latitude XPi, and something similar has happened. The

I got my work cut out for me ... here I go,
I would like to install Debian onto an older laptop. I am not interested in
installing X, this system will be used for hacking (no not cracking).

I wonder if anyone could help we with this problem:
