Are you sure that is intel pro/100??
You may use alt-f2 switch to console during installation, and have a look

I have a Compaq Presario 1070 with an Intel Pro/100 (not M, but
possibly similar) Cardbus II card and have also not found a driver
which works. I've looked at both the Intel and Scyld sites but can't
find anything helpful. Does anyone know if a Linux driver exists for
this card?

What does "lspci" report for your NIC?
You were.
In this context, a fully-configured kernel source tree means one for which
"make config|menuconfig|xconfig" and "make dep" have been run.

Hi (maybe, only for in Japan living) Guy's,
does anybody an IBM Thinkpad X23 (japanese model) running and can post
me the full output of `lspci -vv'?
The important thing is, that the 2662-EVJ, which I have by my own, has
a - not working - Lucent-AMR-Softmodem instead of a working
Lucent-Winm
