As a laptop debian user, I feel that it's a waste of time to relaunch gdm
just to be able to halt my laptop. So I would like to be able to do that
from the gnome session.
I know about gshutdown but I don't like the gui and it seems to be a little
radical (I believe that it simply issue a halt

I often encounter the problem, that GNOME is not able to start
Enlightenment. I face this on different computers. To "solve", I have to
choose a different window manager and then to switch back to Enlightenment.
The funny thing about this is: It happens from time to time, not always.

Yes that's why I've mentionned "nicely".
If you use halt directly the result is not the same as exiting your gnome
session and then calling halt.
