This is far off topic, but I'm at the moment not subscribed to
debian-user, so I thought to put it here:
How can one FORCE to have a program reloaded from disk and not from buffer
cache, when it has already been run once?

Er, there really isn't a way to do that. However, you can flush it out
by doing things that use a lot of memory (probably) or running a

I have resolved my problem: I forgot to compile the async mode into kernel.
Anyway this is a stupid message for this problem (IMHO)

2.4.0 too, can't remember) on my thinkpad 600x my kernel reports:
Detected 172.927 MHz processor.
although i know it's a 650MHz processor and is detected as such under
2.2.18pre22? it feels to me to be running a
check your bios! I have a T20 and found that I have to disable its "power
saving" features in order to get full CPU speed.
Before this, if I started up under battery power it would run with a slow
processor

I would go testing unless you really really wanted the bleeding edge
stuff. I imagine debian developers would use unstable but I have just

After recompiling the 2.2.18pre1 kernel and installing
the package made from kpkg, I couldn't get the modules
to install. I therefore cannot access my Xircom net
card and some other modules.

program I believe you are talking about is DHClient, or a DHCP Client.

Debian and I'm having trouble Configuring X with the Lynx EM4 video card.
