thank you all s much for the respose.
I have Debian Package installed on my Compaq Armada 1110 P75 good old notebook.
I even got my mouse work by recreating a symlink mouse to psaus. Since the bad X

Hi,
there is a chapter in the PCMCIA HOWTO, which explains how
to handle cards without hardware address. Hope this helps.

In real you don't need to delete from your laptop xdm bu
This isn't really a laptop problem, but i don't subsribe to all the lists.
I am running debian somewhere between unstable and frozen on a
palmax pd-1100, and everything is working perfectly.
However, when at work i sit behind a socks5 based proxy firewall,
which kind of screws things up.

Who has recently bought a laptop and was able to install LINUX?
Could you please tell me the exact type of your laptop + how you have solved
problems.
I am particularly interested in laptops of the higher class:
6-15 GB HD
64-128 MB RAM
USB, serial, parallel
floppy
DVD instead of CD
14" color
I've just bouhgt a Siemens Modile 360, it's not really a higher class
laptop, but the price was pretty attractive :
Celeron 300, 64Mo RAM, 4.5Go HD, 12"
PS/2 mouse : OK, but if you boot with it, the touch pad does
not work
Video : OK, SVGA driver, bu
I have a laptop(Toshiba Libretto 60) that goes into a suspend mode when
the lid is shut. Is there any way to disable this within Linux? I would
like to be able to use the sound and video output with the computer lid
shut without having to physically disable the switch.
Thanks,

Hi Maurizio,

I have run Slack and Debian (potato) on it without much of a hitch

Have a look in the bios options first. If you have a good bios, it will give
you a wide range of options for configuring the bios. I dont really know where
to start under linux, appart from changing the options during a kernel build.

Thanks for the help. Actually the BIOS does not have that option but
it can be set from DOS which I don't have installed(go figure). However,
I ran into this page while redoing the search I gave up on a few weeks
ago. This is a pretty neat hack for any Libretto users.

I also have this Maestro sound card (Dell Latitude CPx) and sound works very
well using kernel 2.2.14 (apart from .au and saytime). However, I recompiled
the kernel myself and now whenever I adjust the volume when sound is playing the
machine totally hangs and I have to power off.
I am wondering
